Hoofcount is introducing a block and bandage function to PediVue, its groundbreaking lameness detection device designed to enable dairy farmers to make the earliest treatment.
PediVue features a high-speed camera fitted to the Hoofcount automatic footbath which captures crucial moments of moving hooves, enabling an intelligent filtering algorithm to assess the images using AI, explains Hoofcount’s Anthony Marsh.
“Our latest development involved training PediVue, using AI, to identify when a block or bandage has been applied to a treated hoof, to monitor it, and subsequently remind the farmer of the agreed time to remove and avoid any further hoof related issues leading to more complex health problems.
“Images of the block and or bandages are updated daily, collected and saved in a centrally located cloud-based database which translates them to a simplified version that is downloaded to a farmer friendly dashboard for viewing on the farm’s PC web browser or phone app and added as a prompt to the treatment/action list.”
PediVue has achieved over 100% accuracy in identifying hooves, and 90% accuracy detecting blocks and bandages.
